What does this mean to me?
There is a state-of-the-art technology called EEG Neurofeedback that helps your brain to create new pathways in your brain. It allows you to see your actual brain waves in real time as they are occurring and to do a therapeutic exercise which can help to create new or to strengthen existing pathways in your brain. Since there is no delay, this allows for a greater accuracy in treatment.
This process has already helped stroke patients to walk without a cane, people with learning disabilities or behavior problems to function better and people with concentration and memory problems to have increased concentration and improved recall. EEG Neurofeedback has helped children with ADD and ADHD to become mainstreamed.
How does it work?
Our brains operate in several frequency bands. The normal awake/alert state is in Beta, which is 15-18Hz. The sleepy state is Alpha, which is 8-12Hz. The deep sleep is Delta 0-4Hz. The dopey/drowsy state is Theta, which is 4-7Hz. This dopey/drowsy state is the same place where an injured brain operates. People with head injuries, stroke, ADD, ADHD, learning disabilities, poor memory and trouble focusing all have excessive Theta or slow wave activity, which is easily seen in the waveforms on the screen.
Slow wave interference creates the equivalent of a traffic jam on the super highways in your brain. Neurofeedback training, in effect, builds a new lane for information to travel on. This is better than the commuter lane at rush hour!
The training session is a simple interactive exercise where you strengthen your brain by playing a simple game with the computer to discourage the slow, trouble making Theta waves.
What is a training session like?
In order to see your brain waves two small wires are placed on your scalp and one on your ear. This process is safe because the machine is simply measuring the electrical activity taking place inside your brain. The computer rings a bell each time you successfully focus on the task of creating a healthy new brainwave pattern. EEG Neurofeedback can help you to maximize your brain's efficiency to give you an edge in a variety of ways.
Dr. Julia Lewis has been using the EEG Neuropathways Neurofeedback equipment with great success since 1999. This amazing technology was created by Margaret Ayers, the leading researcher in the field of Neurofeedback. Margaret Ayers understands how slow moving brain waves can dramatically compromise normal brain function. She utilized NASA technology to accurately track brain wave activity so instantaneous corrections could be made during the training session to create or reinforce healthy pathways. She is the only Neurofeedback manufacturer to hold patents for her equipment.
Dr. Lewis was personally trained by Margaret Ayers and continues to train with her to utilize this revolutionary technology to improve brain function.
